Liturgy

The word “liturgy” comes from the Greek word leitourgia which commonly translated means “work of the people.” As a community of worshipers we engage in a rich blend of liturgical elements that aim to bring glory and praise to the Triune God: Father, Son, & Holy Spirit

Elements

The common liturgical elements that we utilize at Res Pres include:
Call to Worship, Songs, Confessions & Prayers, Creeds, Liturgical Colors, Public Reading of Scripture, and the Lord’s Supper.

Apostle’s Creed

We believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

We believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin, Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic* church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Song

Scripture calls us to sing unto God. In Colossians 3:16, the Apostle Paul writes, Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.”

Above, you can listen to a selection of tunes that we will be singing at Res Pres this season.
